The Olympic Oval is one of the world's greatest speed-skating facilities, and it is renown for the quality and speed of its ice. It was the world's first indoor speed skating track, which makes it a nice architectural feature on the University of Calgary's campus. Every year there is a World Cup event held at the Oval, and many Olympic athletes from all over the world train in Calgary because of the quality of the facility. These are fantastic events to attend. The facility is open for public skating most evenings, and skates are available for rental.
