The Olympic Canoe and Kayak centre is part of the Helliniko Olympic complex in southern Athens. It is professionally equipped with a competition course, a training course and a warm-up lake. The complex can seat up to eight thousand people and is about thirty-two kilometers from the main Olympic Village. The centre has acquired its name from the old Helliniko Airport which used to operate out of the same area on which the stadium stands.
