The Olinda Picnic Area is located close to Wynyard on Tasmanias north west coast. This pleasant spot is a 10-minute drive south west of Wynyard (10 kilometres/six miles) on the C235 road.
Set among exotic pine forests, the Olinda Picnic Area is a great location for a relaxing picnic or barbecue with plenty of open space for children. Try one of the short walks, take a trail ride or go cycling while you listen to birdsong and breathe in the fresh air. There are toilet facilities here and the area is suitable for people with a disability.
From here it is a short drive to Wynyard, where you can admire the towns elegant colonial timber dwellings. Drive west along the coast to visit Table Capea beautiful headland with stunning views. Here, you can see the historic Table Cape lighthouse, visit Table Cape Tulip Farm in spring to see a blaze of colour and taste award-winning Table Cape cheddar cheese at Bonlac. Visit Fossil Bluff where the oldest fossil of a giant marsupial was found and where you can still see ancient shells preserved in rock, or go swimming or snorkelling in the crystal blue water at Boat Harbour Beach.
