About
The Old World Table Supper Club™ is often called the antidote to restaurant letdown. One of the only all-inclusive MeetUps for adventurous eaters and certain foodies (http://www.meetup.com/OldWorldTableSupperClubNJ/) Others come for the "stranger magic". The kind that happens by breaking bread with people you've only just met. Some characterize it as "elegant peasant" food firmly rooted in the Mediterranean with Sicilian, Greek, and Provencal footnotes. At $50 (price-fix) it aims to satisfy the soul while going easy on the wallet. The menu is seasonal. Expect to dine group-style on assorted mezes and perhaps a seasonal soup. Main dishes are standard like Roti de Pullet or Sole Meniere with root vegetables or greens. Dessert is usually the house specialty of granita and Arabic tea, Turkish coffee, or Italian espresso. Depends. Your host is a cross between Martha Stewart and Margaret Mead. A born cook who's been entertaining for 20 years with a background in anthropology.
