About
Old Blythewood is a historic farm house in Pinjarra. Purchased by John McLarty in 1856, the farm became one of the most successful in the area.
Looking through the unsophisticated family home, you can discover the significant role the family played in developing the area. At the height of its success, the farm accommodated the local hotel and post office service. Comprising of a farmhouse and separate building which contains a kitchen and creamery, most of the antique furniture has been sourced from the local area.
McLartys great grandsons generously donated the property to the National Trust. Explore the picturesque gardens and grounds of the farm which have been restored and are now immaculately kept. Whilst Old Blythewood is only open on Sundays and Mondays, you are welcome to visit on other days and explore the grounds that overlook the scenic Murray River.
The picturesque town of Pinjarra is one of the oldest in Western Australia. Sitting on the banks of the Murray River, the town offers an array of beautiful locations to enjoy a picnic lunch and soak up the history of this charming town. Pinjarra is a 90 minute drive south of Perth.
