About
The best place in town for tapas and empanadas lies slightly out of the city center and is well worth the trek. You can build an entire meal around these tapas, or else order one of the generous fixed-price menus. "Sixteen" (its English name) is in a subterranean grottolike section with stone and wood that used to be a stable some 3 centuries ago. The empanadas are exceptional, especially slices from a huge wheel of tuna flavored with Spanish paprika. Octopus is another specialty and it's cooked until tender then tossed on the superhot grill and sprinkled with spices. Small plates of fish emerge from the grill or else you can have an omelet with ham and chorizo. The local ham, lacón, is about the best item on the menu.
