About

The cuisine here, consisting of flavors that are unique to Sweden's far north, is one of the best examples we've found in the north of Sweden of "living off the land." Your palate will welcome such treats as smoked filet of trout, marinated salmon, and (maybe) the inevitable bleak roe, which for some is an acquired taste. Other menu items include variations on elk, reindeer, and freshwater char. Presentations are elegant, in some cases emulating the upscale restaurants of Stockholm, and is accompanied by polite and friendly service. Of course, some patrons come for a meal just to see what hundreds of thousands of kronors' worth of exotic and very old timber can produce. Lunch is usually served in the tepee-shaped building that's the hotel's trademark; dinner, traditionally, is in the Renhagen (Reindeer) Restaurant, where log walls, a flagstone-built fireplace, and flickering candles create a soothing but dramatic ambience.
