The Nordic House nourishes both body and soul and is a forum for creativity, a house for you! Iceland maintains strong ties to other Nordic countries, and the center of this cooperation is the Nordic House in Reykjavik. With its marine blue roof the Nordic house is a cultural, architectural and gastronomic jewel in the heart of Reykjavik. It is an icon of Nordic aesthetics, designed by the Finnish mastermind Alvar Aalto. The Nordic House library has a unique position in Iceland with its focus on Nordic literature, offering diverse material in seven Nordic languages. The Nordic house also contains an exhibition space and auditoriums, a shop with Nordic design and food products and Restaurant Dill , an acclaimed restaurant serving New Nordic food, run by Chef Gunnar Karl Gíslason, captain of the Icelandic culinary team, and Ólafur Örn Ólafsson, president of the Icelandic sommelier association. Cultural events take place in the Nordic House every day; concerts, art exhibitions, seminars, theater and more. You can even become so lucky to meet Alvar Aalto himself (as portrayed by an actor).
