Nitida Cellars is one of the newest and smallest wine producers in the Durbanville area. The owners, who make wines that they enjoy drinking themselves, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, hope that their product will live up to the name's Latin roots - 'nitidus' meaning bright, shiny, healthy, refined and cultured. So far, they have certainly been successful; their first release, a 1995 Sauvignon Blanc, won double gold at the 1996 Veritas Awards.
