About

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Niterói is a project by architect Oscar Niemeyer, the construction began in 1991 by the government of Jorge Roberto Silveira. It was completed in the administration of Mayor John Sampaio, on September 2, 1996, with the core of its collection of Brazilian art collection of John Leo Sattamini Neto. Many prefer to compare the museum building on a flying saucer. You can also embed this view, imagining the MAC as a ship, coming from the sidereal space and landing softly in this place of rare beauty. Thus, aliens, traveling hundreds of light years, would have been contemplating the exuberance of Brazilian land. They would bring in the interior of his ship - the museum - the works of Modern art as a message of love and respect sent from the future and Niteroi in Brazil.
