About Ningxia

Identified as one of the five (5) autonomous regions in China, Ningxia is the cultural capital of Chinese Muslims called Hui . Along its borders are the provinces of Shaanxi, Gansu, and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Headed by a chairman, the region is composed of five prefects: Yinchuan, Shizuishan, Wuzhong, Zhongwei and Guyuan . A large part of the region is mostly desert and mountain steppes. The plain where China's Yellow River runs thru is where most of the region's inhabitants live.

Largely dependent on its agricultural production, its economy is currently experiencing strong growth in tourism and modern industry. Its capital, Yinchuan, is slowly becoming an industry hub being the tourism capital of the region. As for Shizuishan, it has several coal plants as there are large deposits of fossilized fuel in the area. Ningxia engages in farming (berry, coffee, and grain), the making of wine and oil, the production of artifacts, tourism and commerce.
