About
Namadgi is the Aboriginal word for the mountains south-west of Canberra. The park was declared in 1984 and has an area of 106,095 hectares, making up 46 per cent of the Australian Capital Territory. The Namadgi Visitor Centre, near the village of Tharwa, provides a great introduction to the park. There are several displays to explore, a theatre production and a shop where visitors can obtain maps, brochures and books about the park.
