Museo di Casa Barezzi
Busseto
About
Busseto is considered Verdi's hometown, but he lived there only for a period in this casa as a guest of his patron Antonio Barezzi. Giuseppe Verdi later married his host's daughter Margherita Barezzi. The Tomaschek piano he used to play is still placed in the original sitting room of the house. The Maestro composed the opera I Due Foscari on it. The Museum also displays portraits of Barezzi, of the musician as a young man, paintings of his two wives, scores, and documents related to the life of the composer. A marble plaque placed on the wall of the building overlooking Busseto's main square commemorates both Barezzi and Verdi. - Maria Frullini
