If you've got time to kill in Calama, take a taxi or colectivo no. 5 or 18 at the corner of Vicuña Mackenna and Latorre to Parque el Loa, to view this museum's interesting collection of artifacts from the Atacama region, and displays interpreting pre-Columbian history and civilization. The surrounding park offers some of the only greenery in town, with terraces and lookout points, a pool, and a few stands selling arts and crafts.
