Mount Wellington rises 1271 metres above sea level and rises immediately west of the Hobart CBD. It is often covered in snow, even in summer due to the chilly westerly winds that sweep the mountain top. The top of the mountain affords superb views of Hobart, the Derwent River estuary and the wilderness forest to the west of the city. You can drive via a 22 km sealed road to the summit.You can cycle from the top of Mt. Wellington to the bottom and views are over Hobart Bay to the Mountains on the other side.
