This windmill was constructed by the Knights of Malta in 1674. In 1992 it was restored to its working order and in 2010 repairs where done. "Il-mithna tax-xarolla" as it is called in maltese, is the only windmill in Malta that is in its full working order. In 2000 the windmill was passed over to be administered by the local council in order to be used as a cultural center. On 15th of March 1930 a tomb was found near the windmill. After some years of excavation catacombs were found. According to research it was concluded that the catacombs date back to the Carthaginian and Phoenician time.
