About

This restaurant is a small slice of Ecuador in Santiago. On any given night, you'll find Ecuadorean expats and travelers among the patrons, though weeknights can be a little quiet. The restaurant and cultural center is a large adobe house with two rooms that house the dining room and stage, where on weekend night performances such as boleros and rancheras take place. The food is Ecuadorean, with the famous Ecuadorean shrimp big sellers, and other menu items such as llapingachos (fried potato crouquettes filled with cheese, served with peanut sauce meat and other accompaniments) and seco de chivo (a kind of goat stew) also big sellers. There are also specialty Ecuadorean drinks on the menu, such as canelazo, a combination of fruit juice, aguardiente and cinnamon, served warm. The restaurant is painted in warm colors, using the red, yellow and blue of the nation's flag, and features paintings by Osvaldo Guayasamín, a famous Ecuadorean painter.
