Mêlée

Martensens Alle 16 Cuisines: French

About

Despite taking its name from a term for a rugby scrum, this small, evening restaurant in the heart of residential Frederiksberg offers a refined culinary experience. Found on a small side street off main thoroughfare Gammel Kongevej, Mêlée opened in late 2009. You might not think it from the black-and-white striped rugby jerseys of the kitchen team, but the emphasis is on fine dining and simple dishes from the predominantly (but not exclusively) French kitchen. The ever-changing menu focuses on soups, good fish and meat dishes, and simple desserts; check the blackboard for the day's specials. The extensive wine list is predominantly French with a couple of Spanish and Italian wines in there too. Note Mêlée is closed on weekends.
