About
Just above MBK Food Court, not as widely advertised and touristy as the latter, but much more popular with locals and some foreigners alike. There is a large common (quite crowded, but generally you can find a free table, maybe just not instantly during peak hours) dining area, and dozens of food stalls around it. It's only slightly more expensive than Thai street food (most dishes will cost 30 to 60 baht, and only a handful, like Shark fin soup, will cost more than 100), but you will never find such a variety of Thai, Isaan and Chinese food on the street, including some food you have probably never heard of before. If you're on a budget and like Thai food, you will come to this place every time you are in Bangkok. Some ethnic cuisines, such as Hong Kong, Vietnamese, Arabic, Indian, etc., are available, as well as various desserts (try Coconut Milk ice cream from the small stall in the middle). Drinks, including fresh fruit juices, brewed coffee, and beer (beer is sold only during 11am-2pm and from 5pm onwards), are also available. To purchase food, you have to buy coupons first; unused coupons are refunded in a separate coupon office behind the shops (there is signage on the floor), this can be done only on the same day, and the refund office closes a bit earlier than the food court itself - beware if you came late.
