Maradu is a region in the city of Kochi , in the state of Kerala , India . It is part of the Ernakulam district . It is a posh area in Kochi today. A variety of shopping constitute that area. The Kochi Metro is passing near Maradu.The Mangayil Government High School is a landmark here.The land and school for this institution was offered as a gift by the prominent Mangayil family of this area and hence the name.The Mangayil family were quasi chieftens of the area who maintained a jailhouse among other things.They had some level of hereditary power over the area ceeded to them by the Cochin royals prior to independence.
