Mandala is a small restaurant with communal tables that 'force' guests to eat while brushing shoulders with strangers. However, that's the beauty of having meals here. Order cumi goreng tepung (deep fried calamari), sop kepiting asparagus (crab meat and asparagus soup) for starters and follow with ayam nanking (boneless chicken with sauce), telur dadar kepiting pete (fried omelette with crab meat and petay beans), or gurame masak (fried "gurame" fish). All of these selections are flavorful and fragrant. Service can be slow during peak hours (especially lunch), but it's worth the wait.
