Manasbal Lake is situated at around 30 km north of the main city of Srinagar, which is the summer capital of the state of Jammu & Kashmir. This lake is surrounded by villages like Jarokbal, Gratbal and Kondabal. It is regarded as one of the supreme gems of all Kashmir lakes, which is full of lotus. July and August is considered to be the ideal time to enjoy water skiing in the deep water of the lake.
The lake is a good place for birdwatching as it is one of the largest natural stamping grounds of Aquatic birds in Kashmir and has the sobriquet of "supreme gem of all Kashmir Lakes". The rootstocks of lotus plant which grows extensively in the lake are harvested and marketed, and also eaten by the local people.
