About
20 acre estate of woodland, gardens & vineyards. Producer of the award winning Cariad Wines. Why not pay a visit to Llanerch to view the vineyard, taste the wines and stroll through the ancient woodland and landscaped gardens. We are just 10 miles to the west of Cardiff and can be found 1 mile south of junction 34 of the M4 motorway. Llanerch is open to non residents from 10 am until 5 pm, 7 days a week from March through to Christmas. There is no need to book. There is an admission fee which allows you to take the vineyard trail, see the delightful gardens and visit the woodland with its two small lakes teeming with common and mirror carp. A pamphlet is provided with maps to help you find your way around the trails. It also contains information on the vine varieties and the cool climate viticulture practised at Llanerch Vineyard. There is also a woodland map and treatise on ancient woodland using Llanerch Wood as an example. Llanerch Wood is a special, tranquil place which in springtime sees the area scattered with wood anemones, primroses and carpets of bluebells. In early summer the two lakes are surrounded with wild irises and, if you look very carefully, many small wild orchids. Birds of many descriptions have been seen within the woods and around the water including owls, buzzards, coots, dabchicks, moorhens, ducks and Canada geese and even the occasional kingfisher. At the end of your visit you can have a wine tasting which is included in the charge. In addition you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with light refreshments and purchase wine and gifts in our vineyard shop.
