About
The informal, affordable way of eating on the Eiffel Tower, le 58 Tour Eiffel has a menu featuring child-friendly options such as hamburger with pommes frites and macaroni with bacon and mushrooms, though the chef, Alain Soulard who trained under Alain Ducasse, offers some slightly more sophisticated dishes to please the adults, such as a starter of pâté en croute au foie gras de canard. Its lunchtime formules, or set menus, are very reasonable for the location. Lunch is informal and self-service – they call it picnic-style since you take your meal to your table in a basket. No reservations are taken for lunch, though it is possible to reserve for dinner online and skip the ticket-office queue at ground level. A more ambitious brasserie-style evening carte offers dishes such as chestnut soup and guinea fowl with chanterelles and salsify. There are special children's menus for under-12s both lunchtimes and evenings. Feature image: © Paris Tourist Office / David Lefranc
