The old building was once the site of bloody battles between youths Amka (Young Generation Railways) and Kidobutai Kempetai against Japan. This battle known as the Battle of Five Days in Semarang which took place on 14 to 19 October 1945.
Moreover, in the basement Lawang Sewu has its own story. In the Japanese era, the room was used as a prison and a lot of prisoners, mostly indigenous, who died there.
 
Regardless of the history, Lawang Sewu has amazing architecture. Lawang Sewu means a thousand doors. The nickname was born from the community because of the many doors and large windows. The beauty of the doors and windows is what makes Lawang Sewu looks dashing.
Entering the inside with a ticket of Rp 10 thousand, you seemed to go back in time. Long hallways and high ceilings in the building's two-story level, a typical landscape in dalamnya.Dari large windows, visible above the height of the Semarang City.
