About
Hidden at the top of a steep street, the Lambreta Grill is well worth the trip. Japanese chef Fukino runs one of the most popular yet laid-back seafood restaurants in town. The restaurant decor is ultra-basic, but wait until you taste the food! Lambretas are small oysters, and the best way to try them is to order the appetizer plate where you get a dozen of the little mollusks with various toppings including sun-dried tomato, curry sauce, garlic, or calabresa pepper. For the main course try the grilled seafood. Our favorite was the seafood symphony -- sinfonia de frutos do mar; a piping hot steel griddle is brought to your table, piled high with juicy and tender morsels of squid, prawns, mussels, and octopus, served with a side of potatoes and palm heart. If you like octopus, try the polvo a la mode for some of the plumpest and most tender octopus you'll ever taste. Note: This small street can be hard to find. It runs uphill off the main waterfront street beyond a popular bar called Extudo (give that as a reference to your taxi driver).
