Lake Allom, which is widely known as turtle lake, can be found nestled in the hills, well sand dunes, of Fraser Island. The freshwater lake is surrounded completely by Mellaluca trees which give Lake Allom it's unusual appearance. The black water is a result of the tannin from the trees.
