La Manduka de Azagra

Sagasta 14 Cuisines: Spanish

About

This is another fashionable new dining spot whose ambience and style attract celebs, politicians, and would-be luminaries ranging from young gay or straight professionals to rising starlets who want to be seen in the right place. As luck would have it, the cuisine ain't bad either. Try the rabo de toro (bull's tail) or succulently sweet lechona a la Segoviana (roast suckling pig, prepared in the style of Segovia), and you'll be suitably impressed. Or if your penchant is for fresh seafood, sample the lomo de lubina salvaje (filet of wild sea bass). Among the purely veggie side dishes, the esparragos blanco (white asparagus) and alcachofas (artichokes) is one of my favorite offerings here. The discreet but attentive service perfectly complements the high standard of the cuisine, and the wine list is pretty comprehensive. Try the heady (and expensive) Protos from Ribera del Duero.
