About
La Bastide St-Antoine offers one of the grandest culinary experiences along the Riviera. Jacques Chibois and his restaurant have attracted national attention since 1996. In a 200-year-old Provençal farmhouse surrounded by 2.8 hectares (7 acres) of trees and shrubbery, the restaurant serves a sophisticated array of dishes. The best examples are oysters flavored with yucca leaves, a terrine of foie gras with celery, roasted suckling lamb with a fricassee of fresh vegetables and basil, and fresh crayfish with sautéed flap mushrooms. Desserts may include strawberry soup with spice wine or ice cream made with olives and a hint of olive oil. The chef also does wonders with wild duck. You can stay in one of nine rooms and seven suites, decorated in Provençal style with upscale furnishings and comfortable beds. They have air-conditioning, safes, hair dryers, minibars, and TVs. Doubles cost 200€ to 450€ ($260-$585), suites, 530€ to 780€ ($689-$1,014).
