The Krishna River is one of the most important peninsular rivers in central-southern India. The Krishna River is the third longest river in India after the Ganges and the Godavari . The river is almost 1,300 km (810 miles) long. [3] On certain occasions, the Krishna River is denoted as Krishnaveni , especially in its original nomenclature. The river functions as a source of irrigation for Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
