Located at a distance of 1 km from Yamunotri is the small village of Kharsali. The place is a popular picnic spot among the travellers because of its natural surroundings covered with natural springs and water falls. Located in the district of Uttarkashi, Kharsali is also visited by devotees, as the ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is also located here. The temple is a three-storied structure with stone carvings and wooden work.
