About
Kalam Valley is a valley along the upper reaches of the Swat River in Swat, in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Kalam Valley is known for its waterfalls, lakes and lush green hills. It is approx 270 km drive from Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. It is a popular destination for tourists. Every year, thousands of tourists from all over Pakistan and world at large come to this place. The Kalam Valley is next to Bahrain. Distance of Kalam to Baharain is 29 kilometres, while its altitude is about 2,000 meters above sea level. The valley opens out, providing rooms for a small but fertile plateau above the river. In Kalam the Ushu and Utrot rivers join to form the Swat River. The metalled road terminates at Kalam and shingle road leads to the Ushu and Utrot valleys. From Matiltan one gets a breathtaking view of the snow-capped Mount Falaksher, which is 5,918 meters (19,415 ft) high and another un-named peak of 6,096 meters hieght. This is a one of the most-visited tourist site during summer season. Best time to visit this valley is from April to July. Strongly recommended for family bonanza as well as tourists expeditions. For foreigners, it is recommended to seek assistance of a trained local guide, with a sturdy 4X$ Vehicle and own dietart arrangements. Locals are friendly and hospitabl;e and pose no threat to the visiting persona.
