Jiumen Xiaochi (九门小吃; Jiǔménxiǎochī), 1 Xiaoyou Hutong (孝友胡同1号; Xiàoyǒuhútòng) (Just N of the northernn edge of Houhai and W of Soong Ching Ling's former residence, SE of Jishuitan Metro Station (积水潭, Line 2) or Déshèngmén Bus Station (德胜门, bus 55, 409, 635)), ☎ +86 10 6402 5858. 24 hours, some vendors only 10AM-10PM. This traditional place hidden in the hutongs close to Houhai houses ten or so vendors. Before choosing from the many different simple and traditional dishes here, you will have to go to the cashier and add value to the shared charge card. This is a very popular place with locals and can be packed, especially in weekends around lunch and dinner time. A great place to get a feel of old Beijing. Expect ¥10-30 each person.
