Jerusalem Artists' House and Old Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design
12 Shmuel Ha-Nagid StAbout
Many cultural activities center on the Jerusalem Artists' Association. Exhibitions of art, evenings of chamber music, concerts, readings, jazz, and art lectures are scheduled each year (for specifics, check with the tourist office or at the office here); there's an expensive restaurant (Cezanne) and a very good, affordable vegetarian restaurant (the Village Green). On the main floor, paintings and sculptures of more than 500 artist members are sold (if you buy, they'll ship your purchases). Upstairs and throughout the building are general exhibitions in August and the spring; special exhibitions, featuring about three artists at a time, change every 3 weeks during the rest of the year. Note the beautifully carved outside doors, the crenelated roof and dome, and the garden sculpture. The present Bezalel School is at Hebrew University.
