Under the patronage of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson Qatar Museums Authority, the Museum of Islamic Art has become one of the foremost museums of Islamic art, as well a centre of education and learning in the field of the arts of the Islamic world. The museum opened in 2008 to great acclaim and has received its one millionth visitor in 2013. An iconic feature of the Doha skyline, the Museum of Islamic Art represents the full scope of Islamic art from three continents over 1,400 years.
