About Ilok

Ilok is the easternmost town and municipality in Croatia . Located in the Syrmia region, it lies on a hill overlooking the Danube river, which forms the border with the Vojvodina region of Serbia . There is a winery/wine cellar in almost every street. The vineyards, on the other hand, are located on all the surrounding hills. Ilok's principal attraction is this excellent municipal museum located in the Odescalchi palace high above the Danube, with spectacular river views. The museum's displays are very well presented, with illustrated information panels in English and Croatian. Sabres and muskets represent the town's Turkish period, there's fine 19th-century furniture and art and a tombstone and tapestry from an ancient synagogue.
