Igreja Nossa Senhora Das Dores

In 1752, Portuguese coming from the Azores settled on the edge of the Guaiba and formed the first nucleus of the future city of Porto Alegre, near where later would build the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows.Members of the brotherhood devoted to Our Lady of Sorrows Church in praying masses, current Metropolitan Cathedral until 1807, when they decided to build their own temple, laying the cornerstone for a land between the streets and the Elbow Beach, on the banks of the Guaiba . Earlier, alms were raised by the local community to build and decorate the church.
