The Hwaseong Fortress is one of the magnificent wonders of South Korea. It was built around the late 18th Century by then king of the Joseon Dynasty, King Yeongjo. It was built as a memorial for his father but now it plays as one of the biggest landmarks in Suwon. The Fortress encloses nearly most of Suwon, thus, acting like a protective barrier over the city. The fortress consists of four gates placed conveniently on all the four sides of a wind vane, a flood gate, three watchtowers and more. All in all, the Hwaseong Fortress is a must visit!
