About

The Hipolit House was first described in 1540. Its name comes from the family name of its 17th-century owners. The building has a grand façade with a central entrance hall, from which a narrow staircase leads to the upper floors. The three-storey house is connected with a two-storey annex by a topped gallery; the top floors were added in a later period. A two-storey wooden gallery encircles the courtyard. As a whole, the house represents an arrangement typical for Krakow houses. On the first floor stucco decoration by Baldassare Fontana from the late seventeenth century is preserved. Bourgeois House This exposition will brings back to life bourgeoisie interiors of homes from the seventeenth century to the first half of the twentieth century. The exhibition makes use of furniture from various periods, antique clocks, works of decorative art, and objects of everyday use from the collection of the Museum. The collection of clocks includes extremely rare and precious specimens, among others a Nuremberg turret clock from late sixteenth century, vestry and tile clocks from the seventeenth century, as well as watches produced by the Swiss firm Patek in the earlier half of the nineteenth century.
