Wicklow company Hilltop Shooting Sports is based in Newtownmountkennedy, which is about an hour from Dublin and an hour and a half from Wexford town, by car. Visitors here can take part in everything from clay pigeon shooting to archery. The sport of shooting has tested enthusiasts since the 1880s and Hilltop Shooting Sports has something for everyone, from the absolute beginner, to the very experienced clay shooter or the hunter looking to get their eye in before the opening of the new season, For those that would like to work on their technique or get some instruction, experienced range officers are always on hand to help. A course in the safe handling and operation of firearms can also be arranged.It is possible to buy ammunition on site and for those looking to buy a shotgun, help is at hand.The Hilltop Archery experience is a great introduction to the world of archery with five firing points and targets between 12ft and 14ft away. The archery range is indoor and fully lit and can be used at all times of year regardless of weather. A Hilltop archery instructor will be present at all times to teach visitors.And when you’ve finished your archery or shooting session, if you’re looking for more activity, perhaps the golf courses of Druid’s Glen or Druid’s Heath will entice you.
