Gush Katif Museum
Shaare Tzedek Street 5About
This intimate museum located close to the Machane Yehuda market in central Jerusalem is dedicated to telling the story of the 22 communities that made up the Gush Katif region in Gaza. Most of the communities were built in the early 1970s and 80s and became pioneers in drip agriculture. Thousands of people were drawn to the simple agricultural lifestyle close to the beach, and most communities housed institutes of higher education as well as hothouses. In 2005, Israel initiated the Gaza disengagement plan and the residents were evicted from their homes and scattered through various temporary communities all over the country. The museum includes artifacts, video, photos and art.![](https://irs1.4sqi.net/img/general/200x200/1470947_A4_rapKZPOjMC2OKxubcIIv579LO6rGIb11hGc777xM.jpg)
