About

The great tradition of making lace continues here at the Good Shepherd Convent. In the 1820s the manufacture of Limerick lace was a thriving industry in the city, employing nearly one thousand people. Two English lace makers moved to Limerick and introduced the art to the city; their venture subsequently became highly successful. Visitors are welcome to come to the convent and watch the art of lace making in progress.
