Gleninchaquin Park

Off Castletownbere Rd

About

This privately owned parkland has several walks that take you along glens, lakes, mountain streams, woodland, and waterfall. In early summer there is a magnificent display of large-flowered butterwort. There is also Irish spurge, saxifrage, and arbutus in abundance. Across Lough Inchaquin is Uragh Wood, a protected area of ancient sessile oaks. This oak species once covered most of Ireland. If you need refreshment after your explorations, there is a tea room with in-house baked goods. You also have the option of bringing your own picnic and using the pleasant picnic area.
