About

Approximately 15 miles out of Dublin, Glendalough Woolen Mills in County Wicklow has a fine selection of traditional Irish wool sweaters for men, women and children. Specialising in Aran and creative hand knits from local knitters, there is also a wide range of wraps, tweeds and leading fashion brands such as Magee, Hourihan and Henry White.Joe O’Neill has created a range of jewellery for the shop. Inspired by the Celtic designs of his native valley, his designs are crafted in 9 carat and 14 carat gold, as well as in sterling silver. The range also includes a selection of rings in contemporary styles set with semi-precious stones such as tiger's eye, amethyst and agates. He also uses Ireland's native Connemara Marble in his work. The shop is located in Glendalough which is full of history, monuments, archaeology, architecture, landscapes, geology, parks, flora, fauna and wildlife habitats. The Glendalough Valley was carved out by glaciers during the Ice Age and the two lakes, from which Glendalough gets its name, were formed when the ice eventually thawed. The Valley is home to one of Ireland’s most impressive monastic sites founded by St. Kevin in the 6th Century. Situated in the Wicklow Mountains National Park, the area is a haven for wildlife and their habitats, flora and fauna. The remains of the Glendalough Mines and Glendasan mines can be found both inside and outside the Park..
