About
Coined, the "Florence of Catalonia," Girona is one of Spain's hidden treasures. Just an hour outside of Barcelona, this city is rich with architectural artistry and incredible structures. Once home to one of the most important Jewish communities in Spain, the Jewish quarter (otherwise known as the 'Call de Girona'), is full of small, narrow, steep sloping streets that still give way to an overwhelming medieval vibe. Once a thriving and prosperous community, today the Call de Girona contains some of Spain's most beautiful monuments and squares. Recently restored, Girona's Jewish quarter also boasts some trendy new art galleries, upscale boutiques and chic restaurants. This is a great place to go for either a day trip or an overnighter and is easily accessible from Barcelona via train and/or car.
