Located under the Santa Fe restaurant, near the Mezhdunarodnaia hotel, Hippopotam has reinvented itself of late as a hip-hop club. The pool room looks somewhat old, the bar is now covered in graffiti, and there are male dancers jumping around in a rope cage next to the dance floor. 'Hippo' also offers live music on weekends in addition to Latin nights on Thursdays. The crowd is young (maybe around 18–25) and young ex-pats make up quite a big number. The cocktails and beer are quite reasonable.
