Located at the corner of East Ferry Street and Jefferson Avenue, GiGi's opened in 1960 and is almost unanimously considered to serve the best soul food in Buffalo, lauded by such sources as Artvoice and Buffalo Rising. A friendly restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, GiGi's is the kind of place where the regulars all know each other's names. Collard greens, mashed potatoes, smothered pork chops, and mac 'n' cheese are just some of the Southern-fried comfort food on offer at GiGi's. To be clear, though: this is not the kind of neighborhood you want to hang around in after dark. $10-20.
