In 2002, California became a little bit richer when the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts opened at the University of California, Davis. The 1800-square-foot multipurpose hall hosts symphony concerts, theater, dance, opera, and lectures, all by world-class luminaries. The Alvin Ailey Dance Company , Itzhak Perlman, and the Kronos Quartet are among the performers who have taken the stage in the past. For those who prefer the local to the international, the center presents numerous performances by UC Davis students and area high schools.
