About
Learn about sustainable and organic methods on day or overnight visits
Established as an incubator of social reform, Hidden Villa has long represented the utopian vision of its founders, Frank and Josephine Duveneck. In 1945 it was the first multiracial summer camp. Today, you can take classes on environmental stewardship in a modern straw bale building.
Like bacon Of course you do. Learn how to raise, harvest, and prepare your own pork. There are also classes on cheesemaking and cow milking. Or simply stroll the education garden, then have a no-garbage picnic. The property spreads out over 1600 acres in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but Hidden Villa isn’t all about the wilderness. Its larger mission is to inspire a just and sustainable future through its programs, land, and legacy.
Overnight options include Josephine’s Retreat, a rustic yet romantic cottage on a trail through the woods.
