The Fraunhofer is off the beaten path, one might say it's off the radar of tourists. However, this working class restaurant is only a short walk from Munich's old town area and located in the hip part of town known as the Glockenbachviertel. It's the type of place that locals go every week, has been around for generations, and will be around for at least a couple more. It opened in 1874 and has changed little since that time. The Fraunhofer is large enough so that you probably won't need reservation, but tiny compared to the big beer halls of Munich.
